A Vision for the Future

Aims

• To become one of the leading clubs in ASA Midland Region
  
  
• To become a Centre for the Development of swimming in Derbyshire at all levels.
  
  
• To provide an environment within which swimmers can realise their potential at all levels and in which swimmers with National potential can be nurtured and from which International swimmers can emerge.
  
  
• To give our swimmers the best by working with the best.

Methodology

• By building on our current position as the leading club in Derbyshire to achieve improved performances at all levels.
  
  
• By monitoring performances and results at County level in order to identify key areas for improvement and then implementing strategies in both the organisation of the squad structure and training initiatives to address the weaknesses.
  
  
• By developing a structure and policy that will allow more swimmers the opportunity to train for and to swim in competition and to reach their full potential.

  This will include:-
  
  a) Improving relationships with local authority and school teaching programmes and further development of the Club's training schemes for novice swimmers in order to encourage more swimmers with potential to join CODSC.
  
  b) Providing the opportunity for talented swimmers from other clubs to take advantage of the better facilities that CODSC can offer. c) Supporting talented swimmers, who need better facilities than CODSC can offer in order to realise their full potential, in their progression towards a club that can provide those opportunities.

• Fostering links with the University of Derby to encourage student swimmers to swim with the club and in due course, as the profile of CODSC is raised within the swimming world, seek to encourage the University to provide swimming scholarships.
  
  
• Working with Derby City Council, D.A.S.A. and other agencies in order to improve the facilities and resources that are available to the Club and to heighten the profile of SWIMMING and CODSC within the County.
  
  
• Developing a larger, better trained and committed coaching team.
