Procedure for Entry and Movement
between Squads
- The Chief Coach, in conjunction with his Squad Coaches, will consider
all applications from swimmers to join City of Derby Swimming Club.
- The Chief Coach will allocate new swimmers to a squad for an initial
assessment period of one week.
- Following the initial assessment period the Chief Coach will allocate
the swimmer to an appropriate squad for a further trial period following
which, a final decision will be made and the swimmer will be informed.
- Entry into each squad will require swimmers to be of a certain age
and to have achieved predetermined levels of ability however, other
factors e.g. attendance, attitude and discipline will also be taken
into consideration.
- The Chief Coach may, at his discretion but with reasonable justification,
authorise movements that do not comply strictly with the entry criteria
for a particular squad.
- Movement of swimmers from one squad to another will normally take
place following one of the four-monthly reviews in either January, May
or September.
- All moves will be reviewed by Squad Coaches, on behalf of the Chief
Coach, to ensure that the required standard for each squad is being
maintained.
- All movements between squads must be ratified by the Swimming Sub-committee.
- Any appeals against the decision made regarding the movement of a
swimmer must be made in writing to the club secretary stating clearly
the case against the decision. All appeals will be adjudicated by the
Swimming Sub-committee as quickly as possible. It is recognised that
it is in the best interest of the swimmer to resolve such issues quickly.
The sudden implementation of the required
age and ability levels would cause considerable disruption throughout
the club. These criteria should therefore be regarded as targets to be
aimed for and they will be implemented gradually as and when new swimmers
join the club.
