City Honours for Swimmers and Coaches

Today (9th October 2016) sees the award of some very special honours to Adam Peaty, Lewis White, Mel Marshall and to the Coaches of City of Derby Swimming Club by Derby City Council, following the massive successes of recent years, culminating in medal winning performances at Olympic and Paralympic games.

The Mayor of Derby, Councillor Linda Winter, and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Ranjit Banwait, along with recipients of awards will appear on the Royal Balcony of the Council House where the following presentations will be made to:

  • Richard Pilcher on behalf of all the coaching staff at City of Derby Swimming Club
  • Coach Mel Marshall of City of Derby Swimming Club
  • Paralympic bronze medallist Lewis White of City of Derby Swimming Club
  • The presentation of the Freedom of the City to Adam Peaty of City of Derby Swimming Club

To facilitate the safety of all attendees, including the general public, road closures have been applied for outside of the Council House. This means that between 15:30 – 17:00 there will be a road closure in place along Corporation Street, a partial closure of Full Street and a partial closure of Derwent Street.
