British Champs Day 3

The medals and more just keep coming!
Thursday started early with a BANG with Lewis White who ‘put the bar high’ by recording a time of 57.94 for the 100m Freestyle S9 category. His second fastest time ever, just outside his British record and at 9.15 in the morning!

Will Foster then recorded a good time of 54.62 also in the 100 Freestyle.

HERE COME THE GIRLS in the shape of Sophie Yendell, Amy Grant & Harriet Cooper all contesting the 50m Freestyle. They recorded respective times of 27.59(pb), 26.92 & 26.12 with Sophie & Harriet’s times recording places in their age group finals, whilst Amy had the agonising wait as first reserve.

Our 17 years plus team of Amy Grant, Sarah Cross, Ellie Baldwin & Heather Parlour finished a creditable 13th in the 4 X 200 Freestyle relay. At this point it’s very pertinent to mention the huge role that Sarah Cross has played in the life of City of Derby. This was her last appearance at the Nationals before she embarks upon the exciting life of Plymouth uni. Good luck Sarah from us all.
If the heats started with a bang, the finals began with a message on a rocket to Rio as Lewis White lowered his own British record in the S9 100m Freestyle event, wining silver in the combined MC event in a time of 57.41 – wow!

Sophie lowered her pb once more to 27. 24 seconds in the 50m Freestyle finishing a fabulous race in 4 th place. Harriet went one step further bringing home a bronze in a time of 25.72!
